From Ginger:

I’ve had Type 1 diabetes for ten years (diagnosed when I was 13). When I was 14 years old, I was also diagnosed with Celiac disease (an intolerance to gluten, found in most breads, pastas, cookies, etc.)I have a twin brother, two older brothers and two older half-sisters. No one else in my family has diabetes. Last spring, I graduated from Champlain College with a degree in Professional Writing. I am also a Certified Personal Trainer and an Ashtanga Yoga Instructor. I teach 6 to 8 yoga classes a week, train clients of every age (from 19 to 77 years old, male and female), and I am also personally training in body building and have gained about 15 pounds of muscle in the past year. I absolutely love it! Exercise and healthy nutrition have become a crucial part of my diabetes care. When I began training rigorously in bodybuilding/weight-training, and following a very clean nutrition plan of low-fat meats, lots of veggies and healthy carbohydrates, my diabetes care become so much more manageable because my body is more efficient, I need less insulin and I treat myself kindly with healthy behavior! That being said, I’m not a perfect diabetic. I have highs and lows just like you. Sometimes I know why and sometimes I really don’t understand it. Read more about Ginger…
