Bellatrix

By Bellatrix Friday, August 31, 2007

Hi,

I have had Acid Reflux for awhile now, I have tried so many products out there.

Maalox, Zantac, stores brands medication, Rolaids, Nexium, Prolosec, gas relief med,

My acid reflux is bad, really bad, I had to stop drinking alot of water through out the day which is good for your body but . not for your acid reflux because it made me feel full all the time besides the food.

So, my nights have been horrible, the food coming up from my stomach is awful, I try to burp and, just get up and walk around several times during the night.

I decided to take a new approach and,  stopped all medication.   What I find that is working for me at least for now is: I drink water only in the morning and ,  eat  small amounts of food. The only time I take a zip of water during a meal is to take a Magnesium 200 mg tablet three times a day purchased at Whole Foods. For some reason that I don't understand this aproach is working for me ,I sleep good and best of all I don't feel that I haven't digested my food. Also when I feel that I won't be eating on time I eat one pretzel, low in sodium as soon as I feel the acid beginnning to take place.

Besides all of that, I make sure I don't drink anything acid, or eat fruits that are acid., cheese has been eliminated, milk products, no pork,  hot peppers. I make sure I eat whole grain bread, rice, vegetables , lot's of salad,  olive oil for all my cooking.  Once a month I have fries, hot dogs, pizza, I don't want to be too hard on myself.

Last but not least, I eat my three meals early. I know it is hard if you're not home but, I work something out most of the time for my own well being.

Interesting...what brand of magnesium do you  take.  I have been eating goat and feta, was told these were ok.  Have tried all of the medicines and I just get sick.  I am going to try magnesium and see what happens.

Will also stop cheese, although mozzarella is so low fat that it shouldn't matter - (wishful thinking).  Just read another email from a registered nurse who took the vitamins recommended by Dr. Weil.  They are very expensive.....i will post an email if it works for me.
