Hi Marinaibra,
It is probably the toughest thing a mom can go through when your child is sick or uncomfortable. I know it always hurt me far more than my kids!!
I was doing some reading on the site and came across some information that you might find helpful. There is a great section here specifically about Baby GER. There are lots of helpful tips and information there.
My children never had GER, but I did babysit for a little boy who did. Not only did he have the GER but he got thrush (a yeast infection of the mouth) it was not obvious from the front, you actually had to look into his mouth to see it. That caused him to turn from the bottle. It is possible there is an irritation in your son's mouth that is also causing him to turn away.
There are also several resident experts here on the site who specialize in baby GER. Tracy Davenport is a mom living with a child who suffers from pediatric GERD. You can read about Tracy and read her share posts here.
I see you have already connected with Jan Gambino, who is a resident expert with Infant GERD. She posted a sharepost called " Help my baby won't eat" You can read that posting here. Jan's profile and links to her other share posts are here. She reads the site often and may share her views with you as well.
Please stay in touch and let us know how you and your little one are doing!!

hi thanks for sharing with your experience, was the endoscopy helpful? did they rule out anything to make the process easwier?
what im doing now is that before he eats his milk i gsit him in his highchair and put on the table of the highchair some solids whatever your child has interest in like cheerios cookis or fresh fruits, and just give him 15-=20 min to play with it and i have seen a difference of seeing my son actually put the food in his outh he eats some of it but again its a start. it was actually recommended by ouir speech therapist. good luck
My son hasn't had an endoscopy- yet. I'm avoiding it as well. I was wondering what formula you are using? My baby (who is 10 months) is on Alimentum now (we switched from Good Start soy) and he is doing much better. Only threw-up twice in the past month. He has also been taking prevacid. He's still not really gaining weight though, and is in the 2nd percentile for his weight. He's a good eater, but refuses to eat breakfast.... not sure why.
If you decide to do the endoscopy, let me know how it goes
hi there, we did end up doing an endoscopy, it was nerve wracking for me but my son did well and it went fine, the findings nwere absolutely normal, all he has ia a baby reflux and my GI suggesting just to follow regular reflux precautions, he is not on any meds right now, but his weight is still low, but we are trying. good luck!
Hello! I think we talked a while back about your son. It sounds like he has had ongoing feeding issues and reflux. A few months ago, he was eating small amounts and gaining weight slowly. Now the vomiting has returned along with a hypersensitive gag.
The doctor may want to do an endoscopy to get a clearer idea of the problem to guide the treatment. My daughters have had several endoscopies. A child needs to be sedated, often the part that is most troubling for parents and children. It is a short procedure, only 15-30 minutes long. Your child may be sleepy and upset when he wakes up. I bet he will be back to normal by the end of the day or the next day. The doctor will be able to give you some results right away. Often biopsies (small samples) are taken. It will take 2 weeks or more to get those results back.
I wonder if your child has been evaluated by a feeding therapist or speech therapist. A hypersensitive gag and poor weight gain may be a sign of a oral motor problem (fancy term for a problem with the muscles in the mouth that control eating and swallowing).
Let me know what you find out.
Best wishes, Jan
Hello! Oh, I am so glad you have a speech therapist helping you. Ask her about the endo too. My refluxers would go through ups and downs. Some weeks were just plain awful with severe symptoms day after day. Often I could relate it to teething, an illness or growth spurt. Other times, I could not figure it out. One time I made an appt with the gi dr and by the time we got to see him (a week or two later) the worse was over!
I know it is very hard not to know what will happen next. It sounds like you have a good team of specialists helping and that is very important. Ican't remember if you have tried any special diets for your son's reflux. When you get a moment, let me know what he is eating and drinking these days.

I hope your little boy is better by now. Wanted to let you know that our first son was highly allergic to soy and also to egg. You might want to eliminate those from his diet and it might stop the vomiting all together. Milk is also a biggie to watch.
