Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 11:57 AMHello Aris,
Did you see a doctor yet? I am assuming you did because you are taking the Carafate. You can read about the medicine you are taking here. It is possible that the condition you have might need a more agressive treatment. Some of the conditions, for instance Barrett's Esophagus, require twice as much medicine for a certain amount of time to heal the damage done by Acid Reflux. You can read more about the symptoms of acid reflux here.As always, these tools are information you can use to ask the proper questions when you see your doctor. Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!

Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 09:09 AMHi at93030,
Wow what a family history you have with Acid Reflux! Perhaps they should do a study on your family to find out why so many of you have been affected!
There is some great information online here to help you understand the disease and also make sure you are informed so you can ask the right questions of your doctor. There is alot written about childhood GERD too. While none of this is meant to take the place of a doctor, it is helpful information to help you manage your health and your children's health.
Jan Gambino is a resident expert here and writes much about children, infants and GERD. You can find her posts here.
Also, the over view about acid reflux has alot of great information. You can find that here. You can read about symptoms, treatments, take an assessment in the tools guide, check out the medicines you are being prescribed and look for adverse side effects or drug interactions.
I hope this information helps!! Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!

Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 04:28 PMThanks Vicki, I apprectiate the time you took to write me. It is very difficult as a mother to see my children go through this. I know I have to think positive and not dwell on it. I have to tell though, I don't let my kids know how I feel about this, I always encourage them to do the best in everything. Thanks again

Friday, February 29, 2008 at 03:56 PMHang in there 93030, it'll get better. In the meantime stay close to the treatment your doctor prescribes for everyone and let us know how you guys are doing! If you are having a great day let us know! Perhaps a particular treatment is working for you all. If you share that, someone else might benefit.
But if you are having a challenging day and need to vent, well let's hear about that too. Perhaps someone else has some advice that might help out.
Take care and be well!Vicki M

Friday, April 04, 2008 at 04:03 PMJust a suggestion I came accross today, we are acid and alkaline and if we eat too much acidic foods ( meat, fish, poultry, eggs, ) it causes alot of acid in our system, we need a ph balance. So maybe try looking web sites or read books about acid and alkaline foods.
If you smoke quit, if you drink alot of caffiene cut down because they are acidic also. Good luck
