I dont know if the fundo has come undone, but Im seeing a new Gastro since Ive moved so far away and he thinks it may be bile reflux since I recently had my gallbladder removed I kinda think there is a link too since all your bile goes straight to your stomach after the gallbladder is removed.... I think they wanted to start me on Welchol which is suppsed to bind bile, but im hesitant to start it because IM already taking aciphex and carafate so Im just going to wait and see what he says at my follow up. Thanks for the bday wish :)

Friday, June 29, 2007 at 07:29 AMGood. Perhaps a new doctor will give you fresh insights on the problem. It might be helpful to get super organized for the visit. Decide ahead of time your list of questions and concerns. It might be a rather long list! Be sure to set priorities. Let the doctor know...I have all of these symptoms/concerns but this is the most bothersome symptom/issue I am having. Before you leave, the doctor should give you a clear plan of action. Ask how long it will take to know if the new treatment is working and have a timeframe for follow up and checking in. There is nothing worse than going to the doctor and being told, see you in 6 months! If you have an urgent health issue, you want to fast track the plan so you get results. If you don't get a good outcome, you want to get right back in there.
I know it is very exhausting to keep going from doctor to test to pharmacy. Often, there are no quick answers or solutions. I hope you have a friend or family member who can listen to your concerns and offer support and suggestions. We are your virtual support system here so keep in touch!

It turned out that the acid was going into the back of my throat and making it swell, which is what was causing the problem.re: Untitled Comment

Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 08:57 AMI have had acid reflux for about a year. I take Aciphex (recently the dr. increased my dosage to 2x/day). What I really wanted to comment on was Emily's throat-swelling. This may not have any connection, but I wanted to offer it. I had a problem with my throat swelling well before I had the GERD condition. After months of dr's and tests, I finally figured out that I was suffering an allergic reaction to artificial sweeteners! When I eliminated all of them, except Stevia, the problem with the throat immediately disappeared. Good luck. -- Linda

I am sorry you have been dealing with reflux for so long without relief. Often when reflux is severe or complicated, there is an underlying cause such as food allergies/intolerances, asthma, or a secondary problem such as hiatial hernia, h pylori. Sometimes, reflux can just be tough to get under control
I am sure your doctors have been very thorough about checking other causes. If the treatments you are trying are not bringing relief, it is important to check in with the doctor for advice. Ask your doctor if there are other tests or treatments that are needed at this time.
Is it possible that the fundo is coming un done?
