    Baked Apples.

This is a great side dish because it is super quick and easy to make (I made it last minute this week). Apples are also relatively low in acid compared to many fruits. Some recipes for baked apples call for cinnamon, but this one does not since some with acid reflux disease cannot tolerate cinnamon.

5 apples (I like to pick out five different kinds to add a depth of flavor)

    1/2 cup of brown sugar

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Peel and slice the apples (do not slice them too thinly). Toss the apples in the brown sugar. Spread the apples out into a baking dish and cover with foil. Bake for 35 – 45 minutes until the apples are fork tender. Serve warm.
