to anyone who has had the surgery, would you do it again? i have heard different stories. please tell me what was the most painful part?

There is a lot of information about surgical procedures here. You didn't say what kind of surgery you are planning to have. The most common is fundoplication. Some folks who have had the surgery have posted here online about their experiences. One of them is Karla. You can read her postings here.
