Looking at our health daily and focusing on good eating patterns

By carol kearfott Monday, September 03, 2007
I have suffered for 40 years with Gerd, and a bad stomach. I thought I ate well, however I know that I eat to fast. I brought up 2 children and was always harried working for 33 years. Today, there are fine foods that are in many grocery stores. I will have surgery soon to eliminate GERD symptoms along with hiatal hernia. Some of this is my eating habits, because I like the more fattening. I want to stay well after fundoplication. I have been reading and doing a lot of soul searching. Remember we are what we eat. Buy one good cook book and study portions and you will be on your way to good health!!!

Hi,

I had the surgery for gerd, and mine only lasted about a year.  I am right back where i started from.  It isn't an easy surgery to go through.  I wish you luck with yours.

Hi Linda,

I would like to know more about why it lasted only a year, the GERD surgery. This doctor that will do mine studied at the Mayo clinic,he has top credentials. I would not have this done, but I have Barettts, that is pre cancerous, My acid is gotten out of hand, because I have also a rotten taste in my mouth. I would like more feedback and comments. I have been on the web for 2 weeks now trying to see what went wrong with other patients. It seems that the wrap got loose with your surgery. I am limited to a choice, because my father died from stomach cancer in the 40s. I have been so disgusted with former doctors, because they loaaded me with meds, and consequently I have excessive problems. Please let me know just what happened to you. Thanks Carol
