I'm new here so please bear with me, as I have a long story.
I have acid reflex and all the accompanying symptoms on and off for quite some time now, for weeks and months at a time. Constant belching, regurgitation of food, upper stomach discomfort, sometimes a bit of nausea, congestion, post nasal drip and liguid running down (or up?) into my throat, in my bronchial tubes and respiartory track, dry cough...and occasionally even a kind of wheezing or rumbling in upper abdomen and chest, gas...and when it gets really bad I also get pain across rib area, upper back and even neck pain. I'm contantly clearing my throat and I get a burning sensation in upper stomach and behind breastbone throat sometimes (when I'm eating). All these symtoms overlap and some come and go in between, severe or not severe depending on ??... Most frustrating is that I can never tell what it is that triggers these episodes to start so suddenly and/or why and what makes them go away for weeks or months either? I can't discern which is the first "source" symtom that comes and/or maybe then causes the next one! I was feeling great with no symtoms for 2 months due to a very strict diet including a regime of taking enzymes aloe, licorice, marshmallow tinture etc 2 times a day with meals, perscribed by my nutritionist/kineisiologist. But now after over 2 months of perfect health something triggered it again and I can't figure it out? I've been very diligent in doing everything she advises me to do, and I follow up. She says that I have a yeast producing issue and weakness in liver function and metabolizing sugars etc. But that it's not serious. I am normally a very health orientated anyway and even before I was on this diet I was pretty much eating a basically healthy diet. I never drank coffee or any caffeine drinks or soda, and very little juice. I dring lots of water, take supplements etc, etc. don't eat junk foods except for an occasional chessburger, pasta or desert once in a while. I now cut it all out and don't eat any dairy...am off all sugar, yeast, soy, enriched breads and pasta. I am 55 and around 125 lbs I don't smoke...I haven't had even one cocktail for 3 months. Maybe the food she has me on is just wrong for long term? (Broiled, grilled meat, fish poultry, steamed veggies only olive oil, brown rice . No fruit, raw foods (salads) bla, bla)...Anyway I'm at my wits end! I'm so dissappointed, because i thought i had this under control. I've spent a fortune on treatments etc. As well as body work for my back issues (that supposedly contribute to my digestive issues due to my misaligned spine connecting to nerves of he vital organs and digestive system bla, bla). Sometimes it all just goes away (for a week or two or more if i'm lucky) and as quick as it comes it goes! I'm thinking that maybe have some kind of bacteria that neve really goes away but just calms down for a while with certain combinations of food? Maybe it needs to be treated with antibiotics? I've been told by a couple other holistic practitioners/kineisiologists that candida and a funcus can cause this too? The most disturbing and frightening symptom I had a couple of times (last year was the first time and a few times since) and now again that prompted me to seek out some feedback here is that...a couple of times when I had that feeling of congestion and liquid in my bronchial area (when the acid reflux had been going on too) I cleared my throat to loosen it and I had a blood taste. I tried to cough and then spit to see if it was and and I brought up a little bright red blood. I was a wreck. I tried to cough more to see if it continued but it stopped after a few drops and even if I tried to cough more it was just clear saliva after the first intial coughs. Then it just went away. This happened a few times, again when I also had all the other acid reflux symtoms. Has anyone else with acid reflux ever had this happen. Can acid reflux irritate the bronchial track or throat enough to cause bleeding? Can I have an on going respiratory infection?
