I don't know if this is a good place to get advice on what is perhaps a part of my acid reflux bit if it is ,please contct me so I can describe my symptons and get some feedback. Briefly I experiene what feels like trapped air in my upper esophagus which gives me the feeling of heart palputations but I don"t think thats what's happerning. This becomes prominant after I eat something and lasts for a considerable length of time until most is digested. The medication I take for acid reflux controls the burning sensation completely but seems to have no effect on the trapped air feeling in my upper chest which in turn sometiomes giving me the palputation sensation. Is this most likely part of my gerd problem?
Dear Roger,
HealthCentral is a wonderful, supportive community for folks with Gastroesphageal Reflux just like you. I am glad you found the site!
Certainly the classic symptom of reflux is heartburn and it sounds like that symptom has been addressed with medication. There are some symptoms that are less common. Then it is time for you and the doctor to do some good old fashioned detective work. I hope your first stop was contacting the doctor and describing your symptoms in detail.
I know it is common for patients to get on the internet and come to the doctor armed with information. If you want to go ahead and do some research, I would suggest doing a google search on: Hiatus Hernia, Laryngospasm, Acalacia and Dismotility. In addition, my blog this week has a list of wonderful books about all aspects of Gastroesophageal Reflux.
Best wishes,
Jan
