Tuesday, February 05, 2008 at 07:21 AMHi there Kay! my name is Debbie... I have had acid reflux for a few years now and have been on protonix for a few years...sometimes it helps other times soso.I also have a small hiatial hernia which i found out makes things worst with food....I was reading it in one of my books that a hernia will keep acid reflux going so i have to be careful on eating too much of the wrong stuff espeically spaghetti or any tomatoes or sprices sometimes....I found the list that was on this website for GERD with all the types of foods...i printed them out there were three pages of bad to good foods to eat.....then i guess all you can do is measure how much you can eat...lately i have been blending fruits together with milk and icecubes and it fills me up for a few hours and i am getting three kinds or four sometimes into me.
they do have a good recipe area here too....broccoli and rice recipe was good..hope youcan find them...anyways....i know our stomachs are so sensitive..my mother always had a bad stomach and looks like i have been going that way to somewhat but have been able to control it better than she did.....not sure if i have helped or not..email me back when you can maybe we can stay in touch....hugs debbie i am 54

Hello! With reflux, what you eat may make a difference in symptoms. Some people with reflux have to eat a very bland diet, others avoid specific foods that are know to trigger symptoms. It is very individual. Try to make a connection between symptoms and foods.
Just as important as diet is a healthy lifestyle: losing weight if overweight, chewing carefully, eating slowly and eating small frequent meals. All of these "ways" of approaching mealtime can go a long way to reduce discomfort.
I believe there information about diet and recipes on this site too.
