appendicitis

By bluemets Sunday, April 06, 2008

Around 5 hours ago I began to have a stomach ache.  Rarely do  I have stomach issues.  When i lie down it feels better however, my mouth became dry perhaps i was a little nervous.  I do not have a fever nor throwing up.  Any thoughts about whether this is food poisining or something more serious?

Thanks a lot

Hi Bluemets!

Online resources are great for getting more information about a condition that has already been diagnosed, but if you think you might be having a serious issue, nothing takes the place of your doctors advice and care. So you should make an appointment to see your physician. Once he or she determines what the problem is, then you can seek out more detailed information online and the community here can give great advice and tips.

I can give you some links for some general information here.

When you have acid reflux, the pain can start in the chest area, and lying down will usually make it worse, not better. You can read about acid reflux here in the overview, and you can check your symptoms here in the symptoms database. Then once you see your doctor, if you have been diagnosed with acid reflux or GERD, then you can check the treatments available here, and read about any medications you've been prescribed here.

You might also want to read some of the shareposts by Dr Todd Eisner. You can read all of his shareposts here. Dr Eisner is not able to read or respond to individual questions, but does post a lot of great information in his shareposts.

Good luck. Please make an appointment to see your doctor and then let us know how you are doing!! Stay in touch!
