Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 02:00 PMmy daughter has this started when she was 13 took the doctors 3 years to diagnose her she has celiac disease. she has to be on a gluten free diet this helps, but she still suffers when her stomach doen't empty out. maybe it would worth a shot to have him tested for celiac ask the dr. she was on every pill made for this didn't help. there is a cause for this and you have to find the underlying cause in order to help him fix the problem. I know what you are going through I am still there with my daughter she has to watch what she eats nothing spicy, juices with acid in them etc. good luck and God bless his little heart he is trying and at least he can tell you where it hurts. stella

There is hope

Monday, September 29, 2008 at 11:04 AMMy son now 8 has had reflux his whole life. As a baby we never left home without "the bucket". It broke my heart as he got older that he would wake up at night, go to the bathroom, throw-up, rinse his mouth out with water, and go back to sleep as if nothing happened. At age eight, with monitoring his diet and taking the reflux medicine in the morning we have it "under control". He knows; they know; and they grow up fast learning. I can only hope for all children to "have it under control" because as we all know it does not go away.

Tracy,
I have tears in my eyes reading this. My 5 year old is going through similar stuff. Lunch comes back untouched some days. And then the school schedule kicks in and he doesn't have time to eat or drink as much as he might have if he had more time. I'm so happy your son can now articulate what he feels. We are still at the point of me desparately asking questions and my son is not sure how to answer and is sick of me pestering him. And I'm frustrated and upset that children have to deal with this.
You are so smart to go to lunch with him and see what is going on.
Hugs to you and your son.
Cathy
