Acid reflux or something else

By ladyz Tuesday, July 10, 2007
Does your acid reflux give you shortness of breath and heaviness on the chest area and feelings of possible regurgitation about to occur?

Be sure to review the descriptions on our Symtoms pages. Chest pain is a common symptom of GERD. However, your physician will want to make sure that your symptoms aren't a sign of heart disease or other conditions. You might want to review the Diagnosis pages to learn how your physician tests for Acid Reflux.

Yes!  I have shortness of breath also.  It worried me so much and i had no idea at the time that it could have something to do with the acid reflux.  I regurgitate often even though i try my best to keep it down.  It sounds gross i know.  I have the LPR type of A.R. where it affects me more during the day and i have not heartburn symptoms.

If I eat a lot of carbs anytime in the evening and I don't take an antacid I get this feeling. I wake up and immediately know what has happened. The acid went up my throat and down into my lungs. Within 10 minutes I have puked most of it up in addition to whatever I had for dinner. After that, all is good. I am glad that I am able to throw it up and recommend to anyone else that has this problem to try to purge the acid from your lungs before it does further damage. I do not do it intentionally but I do not try to prevent it from coming back up. Stomach acid can do irreparable damage.
