Friday, October 19, 2007 at 12:25 PMDear Theresa, yes dear I know all about this not fun at all for 8 long months now have been suffering going to my allergy dr., gastro dr. and ears, nose and throat dr.It's a terrible feeling you feel as though you are suffoicating and a panic attack, For awhile everything was working what they put me on started out with Pecid prescript. then some other meds. in the same family as Nexium but found out nexium was the only one that did well for me.But the last 2 days have been horrible I took the Nexium ate my breakfast and within 45mins later I had the wad in my throat of mucus and you could see it like sheets in the back of my throat. And it took me about 2hours to get it cleared I took tums, and my other allergy meds. Atarax, and benadryl etc. But this time had a very hard time to clear my throat. Plus I get this feeling on the left side of my nose it feels stuffed and it feels like from the point of that place that is stuffed in my nose to down in my throat on the same side it is like one big sheet of mucus! And it is very hard to get rid of!! And yesterday it really scared me I guess my sinus's on the left side was really clogged that all of a sudden a rush of mucus came down out of the back of my throat and I thought I was going to choke there was so much of it. So as you can see for 8months have been stuggling with this mess. And it took me along time to believe that acid could go up into the sinus! Also like you I do alot of throat clearing after I eat it really at times makes my throat sore. So this monday it's back to the allergy dr. I think I have another sinus infect. started because of the acid etc. But I have always been pretty healthy but this year has been a nightmare for me, plus I have had the upper edenscopy done in which they found acid refux plus a stricture in my esphogus on top of everything. What a mess. And I wish I could offer you some solid help but as you can see all 3 of my dr.s have tried different things and they work for awhile then it comes back with vengence. With antibotics , predisones etc. But I want you to know you are not alone. If you feel like anwsering back please do so and I will anwser . Linda

Gerd & sinus problems that seem to be related

Monday, January 28, 2008 at 10:22 PMIn response to Teresa30, I too suffer from GERD & have recently developed sinus problems that seems to be associated with the reflux. My neck has been hurting & my left ear is hurting & itching like crazy. My nose just runs a bit but I have this sinus type pressue & I have never suffered these problems before. To make matters worse, my lymph nodes are swelling in various places such as under my arms and mostly around my neck & at back of head. My PCP is trying to figure out what's going on but has not as of yet. Did you find any answers?

Theresa, I to have awful heartburn, right ear ache, stuffy nose and just a general sick feeling. Yelck. I have never had problems with heartburn until 2 or 3 months ago. It is awful. I am on nexium and can not tell it does a lot for me. I wake in the morning and through the night with a burn in my throat near the adam's apple. Lol. I have gotten it so bad that even water hurts to swollow. My question is how does it or does it get in the lungs. I was told last week I have emphysema. An ENT doc told my sister in law that it does get in the lungs and lots of people have to have lung transplants because they are not properly diagnosed until it is to late.
I can say that one time I got it so bad i thought I was dying. Back pain, chest pain and pressure, bad taste in the mouth, and even fever.
