Friday, February 20, 2009 at 07:12 AMThanks for your encouragement. It is so nice to make contact - this website has been a lifeline for me! I think that the lifestyle changes have improved my reflux dramatically, but they will also have the added bonus of a generally healthier me. Eating lots of fish (easy on my digestion) has made my hair really glossy and I have lost 10 pounds in 3 months (BMI 26) - so lots of nice side effects! I am constantly battling with food choices, especially when cooking for the family - there are so many things I can't eat and I am still at the early stage of looking at food wondering whether it will hurt me. At the worst stages my pain has felt like giving birth and having a heart attack at the same time, at the best stage it has been moderate but bearable discomfort. I am seeing an end to the painful abyss - so there is hope for people out there! Not looking forward to a life on medication though - hope I can come off them at some stage.
