My reflux is back......

By Michelle Tuesday, July 03, 2007

Well, In 2000 i took a bunch of advil for headaches. A few weeks later, i had trouble breathing. Then trouble swallowing and clearing my throat. I had laryngeal reflux from gastritis. I tool priolosec. It took months, but i got better. I went off the prilosec and went on my life.

Then in 2005, i took more meds for headaches and some female pain and about a month later, the same symptoms came back. I went on prevacid. I lost like 35 pounds from not being able to really eat. It took like 7 months to get totally over it. I took prevacid and then nexium. Well, 2007....and i have it again from taking iron for my anemia. Liquid iron. I had been off my nexium 2 months only. I am now on nexium again. I hate it because i am sick of the throat problems and breathing prioblems associated with this type of reflux. It sux. I am eating minimally and trying to get by. I hope it goes away soon. The nexium makes me kinda loopy headed and tired. That is why i couldt wait to get off of it the last time.

If your suffering, hold on. It gets better. I just takes time.

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for sharing your experiences here with regards to your reflux. It never ocurred to me that you can be affected by taking medications like advil. I wonder if your particular reflux could be related to the H-pylori bug. I have been told by my doctor that it can be "awakened" by taking medicines like aspirin and advil. I never had it before until I took those medications for long periods of time.

Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!
