Dear Dr. Eisner,

I have been taking Protonix for some time now.  It is not helping my acid reflux.  I have been diagnosed with a hiatal hernia.  Yesterday I told my doctor that I had heartburn 13 times in the month of March and that it did  not seem the Protonix was working.  He said before he gave me a different prescription he wanted me to try taking a double dose of Protonix.  (I am taking 40 mg.)  So yesterday morning I took a pill and then took another at dinner time.  I think I had the worse symtoms that I've had.  They began right when I got into bed and continued ALL night despite taking numerous Mylanta tablets.  Should I take the pills both at the same time?  Should l give up and say I want a different prescription?  I'm not getting any sleep and it is so frustrating!!!
