I have a chronic cough caused partly by acid reflux. Pantaloc does not seem to help. Would switching to prilosec help?

Acutally, Prilosec and Nexim are similar.  If you look at the labels of these drugs the ingredients are almost identical.  Also, they are made by the same company: Astra Zeneca.

    Hi PD,

While Pantoloc which is the brand name Protonix and Prilosec are both similar Proton pump inhibitors, they are not the same medicine. Only you and your doctor know what is best for you, but here are some links to the various drugs that are prescribed for acid reflux. Each one works similarly and in some cases, they are from the same drug family, in this case the Pantoprazole/omeprazole family. You can use this information to speak with him and determine which treatment is best for you. Also, here is a link to the current treatments available.

Good luck and stay in touch. Let us know how you are doing!
