By now, most people have completely given up on their New Year’s resolutions (remember those?). If your resolution was to loose weight in order to control your acid reflux then you may be in that very position. Don’t loose your motivation. In this blog we will look at a few of my favorite tools to help you in the battle of the bulge.
I am currently using My Fitness Pal for Blackberry as a tool to track both meals and exercise. You can use the same tool online or on a different smart phone as well. The app will tell you all sorts of helpful things like how many calories you have burned and how well your nutritional status is compared with where you should be. You can also connect with friends to support each other in your weight loss or fitness goals.
Spark People is another good site to track your dietary intake and fitness progress. It functions in a similar manner to My Fitness Pal and there are also apps available for your smart phone. The online community is vast and you can join groups working on the same things you are working on to keep motivated.
I know it can be hard to get into exercising but remember you don’t have to run a marathon the first month. If you can simply walk for 30 minutes 5 days a week you will have an excellent start to getting into shape. Then you can gradually add in harder exercises, classes at your local gym or weight training as your fitness improves. Not only will exercise hlpe you to loose added weight that can affect your acid reflux but it also reduces stress! Reducing stress can also aggravate acid reflux symptoms.
If you have fallen off the fitness wagon don’t be too hard on yourself. It happens to all of us now and then. Start over right now and by this time next year you will be amazed at how different you feel.
