There is so much information out there to help and support this disease, but everyone wants to get paid to help. I appreciate your natural suggestion. It is a Relief to get answers that I am not getting charged for. I highly reccomend the site Free Heart Burn Relief for additional and tremendously helpful information. Thanks again for being one of the good guys.
If you get apple cider vinager that has the mother on the label, that is the one
that is good for balancing acid and helping with it.
I don't remember what the herblist at the health store said about it but I remember
using it in the past and I know it worked.I just forgot that I still have some of it on hand and I will be using it in the future.
I also have used Peppermint and ginger together in the loose tea form and steeped it before drinking it,
It also worked and I keep forgeting to buy more as I have been down with allergies
from pollen.
I am going to try the other remadies that were mentioned and also I eat small amounts of dark chocolate that don't bother the acid but the regular milk chocolate does because I can't use anything with regular milk in it and I use a combination of soy milk and allmond milk in cereal.
If you have an underactive Thyroid becareful with anything with soy in it as soy will
effect it.
That is why I use half of each and the White Silk soy taste great especially the Very Vanilla flavor and also in the allmond milk.
I buy the Diamond Allmond brand.
White Silk brand also makes great Soy Yougert in Four flavors.
I am very, very skeptical of "home remedies" but I have tried Zantec, Kapidex, Nexium, Pepcid, and all the alkaline antacids and none of them provided any kind of lasting relief. Since I started drinking 2 tablespoons of ACV after meals I have had no significant acid reflux incidents.
I understand as the author says there is no clinical evidence but there is a huge amount of anecdotal evidence and where does clinical evidence come from? Usually a researcher trying to prove or disprove the mass of anecdotal evidence (usually in order to make a product to turn a profit).
I am an athlete and take my health and nutrition very seriously and I turn a critical, data-based eye to any supplement or medication I put in my body. This is one example of where the health community is hurting itself using the lack of clinical trials as an excuse.
I agree with you. I go to a doctor who practices both conventional and natural medicine. So.....I'm not having pills pushed on me before I finish with my check-up! She promotes natural first! Also a GERD sufferer, I will tell you that Apple Cider Vinegar wins hands down. It is effective and safer than popping pills. And, yes, I have tried one or two pills before but I prefer natural or home remedies, first, because I don't want to look up and have to deal with one of the side effects most pills can cause, later on down the line (i.e. liver damage, stroke, yada yada....) Those side effects are listed with prescription drugs for a reason! I manage my GERD with diet. I don't eat a bunch of stuff that will cause my GERD to act up. Additionally, I don't eat late at night, I don't overeat, and I definitely keep stressful things out of my life. I believe are bodies are designed to repair themselves and will do so if we just listen to our bodies and do what's necessary. And, if you read the label closely, you will learn that most pills are designed to treat symptoms, not disease. Hello out there..... That means you could be treating symptoms for life and creating a mass of other health issues in the process! I don't think so! Not me! And, I am by no means a health guru, nut, or expert, but with age, I am definitely starting to listen to my body cry out for healthier alternatives and opting to take a safer route!
I would just add that the threaded comments plugin is very cool and allows readers to better interact with one another and the author. Also, Jim Jeffers Encouraged Commentary is a very cool commenting technology that allows comments at the sentence level.

I have tried most of these natural remedies, but the one that I found that really does work for me is ginger juice. You can't buy it, you have to make it using a ginger root that you buy in any grocery store. All you need is your own juicer. Here's how to make it:

Ginger juice is inexpensive and there are no side-effects. I found it helped to alleviate my symptoms in just a few days. I can eat pizza with my kids again. I have told others about it and they all report success.
I have acid reflux as well....when I get it I just chew some candied ginger, it really ,really helps. My acid reflux usually goes away quickly. Also, another remedy that me and my daughter use is drinking grapefruit juice! My doctor of internal medecine suggested this and it always works!
