I have been struggling with acid reflux off and on. In Jan. after a bad bronchial infection requiring prednisone and antibiotics, I had a bad ulcerated esaupagus bleed, was hospitalized and received two units of blood.  My endoscopy six eweeks after showed total healing.  Since then every PPI prescribed has caused a severe dryness in my mouth and throat causing many sleepless nights, lying awake drinking water.  Then, I awake so dry, I am wheezing.  They all cause the same side effect.  Also, Tums, Pepside, Mylanta and Zantac.  I am at a loss, I don't know what to take.  I'm afraid my doctor thinks it's in my head.  If I take nothing, I feel burning after almost every meal.  If I take the meds I'm miserable and end up with asthma which I then must treat.  Any suggestions?

Just get the tiff surgery, stop taking the pills. You should never take any pills for an extended amount of time. The companies that make them do not test very well for long term use. They are in it to make money not make you better. DO NOT take pills forever. The tiff surgery cures acid reflux.
