acid reflux

By fern Tuesday, October 02, 2007
A few days ago, I was eating grapes, one got stuck in my throat. Now it seems when I lay down to go to sleep, I am getting signs of Acid Reflux.  Is this possible? Can food stuck in the throat cause acid Reflux?  Should I see a doctor or will it go away by itself

Dear Fern, I would recommend calling the doctor about the symptoms you are describing.

Some people report getting a pill stuck in the esophagus and it will cause burning and pain. The medicine can irritate the delicate wall of the esophagus and every time you eat, the irritated area will hurt. A grape is acidic so it might have irritated the esophagus temporarily. I am not a MD so I really need you to call the doctor and get this checked out!

Hi Fern,

Just checking to see how you are doing and if you were able to see your doctor about the discomfort you were experiencing after eating the grapes? I know I choked on a piece of watermelon (go figure!) and had that feeling for several days but it did eventually pass.

Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!
