By Roland Thursday, November 05, 2009

Does anyone have the same problem? I didn't have any hertburn symptoms.Just woke up one morning couldn't breath.Went to hospital, they tok x-ray & CT scan & could not find anything. My EENT told me it's acid reflux. My throat is still sore & it's been 3 months now.I also have difficulty speaking & eating & have lost 20 pounds. I was put on Nexium 40 mg twice a day after Rabeprazole did not do anything.I've been on Nexium now for 4 weeks,it helps a bit but discomfort in my throat and dificulty speaking is still there.I will start taking Zantac 150mg twice a day along with Nexium, hope it helps.Has anyone tried metoclopramide for GERD? Did it help strengthen the LES? Please help. Thanks.

Hello, It must be frustrating to try so many medications and not have relief from your symptoms. It might make sense to get a consultation with your primary care doctor or a gastroenterologist to look at non medication and medication treatments for the GERD at this point. Diet, positioning, lifestyle changes and careful eating may help you manage the symptoms along with the medication. The doctor can also guide you on using other medications or combinations of medication.

Thank you for you reply. My diet is very clean,I used to compete in natural bodybuilding.I think over consumed coffee at work. I have an appointment with gasto soon as I want a confirmation of my illness. I also have an appointment with the allergist. I'm so depressed with this illness.I used to feel invincible, this illness has humbled me.My main problems are difficulty speaking & eating & spasm of my throat. Any help would be helpful.Thank you for your support,it really makes a big difference.

Hi Roland,

I have a hiatus hernia and have suffered all the usual symptoms associated with it over the past year or so. In August I had a manometry and ph tests done. Since these tests I have suffered the same throat problems you describe. I have had difficulty swallowing, it hurts to talk and is just generally uncomfortable in my throat. I have lost a lot of weight because of this. I saw the surgeon the other day, he wants to operate on my hernia, but won't until my throat is sorted out. He has referred me to an ENT specialist and I am having another Barium meal x ray in a couple of weeks. I have been put on Diazipam for a couple of weeks to relax my throat muscles and have been told to sip lots of water. When my throat was at it's worst, I was put on Domperidone for a while and this did help.

I hope you find some relief. If you do please let me know what the answer is!

I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like I can't breathe. I went to the doctors the next day because I thought it was my asthma. My lungs and oxygen were good so my doctor sent me to an ENT who told me I have severe Acid Reflux and need to see a GI ASAP. I am going for tests to see how bad it is, but in the mean time I am taking Prilosec OTC which helps me with the soreness of my throat, drip in my throat, waking up at 4 am, tightness in my chest and losing my voice (I am a teacher so I talk all day long and I was constantly losing my voice or it was horse). Make sure you check with your doctor before chaning your meds.

Hope it helps

I didn’t know how many people suffer from Acid-reflux, I will try to help as many as I can, I’m 59 years old, 3 years ago I was suffering from Acid-reflux, I tried just about all the drugs in the market but, it didn’t help much, and the side effects were terrible, a friend of mine told me about this natural food supplement that he tried, I ordered and tried myself, it was amazing, no side effects, safe for all ages including babies, I didn’t have to go on a diet, I eat and drink anything any time as much as I want, and I mean anything including coffee, sodas. pizza, chocolate spicy foods (my wife is mexican),. I didn’t have to make any lifestyles changes, I don’t have to elevate my head when I sleep and it lasted for more than a year, I had to order it 2 times since for myself and 1 time for my daughter and my son, my daughter was 18 years old and 32 weeks pregnant, my son was 10, the baby is now 13 months old and my daughter and my son had forgotten about Acid-reflux, until two weeks ago my daughter ask me for the web site address  because one of her friends at school have reflux, I have told many of my friend about it, try it and tell your friends too, let me know if it work for you, the web site is betasupplements.com.
