GERD - treatments and lifestyles that help

I have GERD and asthma.  I also find that treating both is usually best.  I like fluticasone for my post nasal drip (you snort it once or twice daily as needed).  Aciphex is my current PPI (for gerd).  Your doctor will probably tell you to avoid eating (or drinking) at least 1 hour (I prefer 3 hours) before bed.  I love chocolate and red wine but having these before bed is not a good idea.  Last thing I try to have at night before lying down is water to rinse irritating substances.

High protein, low fat diet tends to close the sphincter so irritating acid does not leech up into your esophagus making you cough.  Sleep at a 45 degree angle, not flat on your back.  Losing weight (if one is overweight) is always a plus.  Eating smaller meals at night will benefit you.
