Acid Reflux after Gallbladder Surgery

By Melissa Friday, August 10, 2007
Hi! I am 30 years old and just had surgery to have my gallbladder removed.  I am no stranger to acid reflux.  I was first diagnosed in the ER a year ago.  I was pregnant with my second child and was dealing with severe morning sickness which in turn caused the acid reflux.  After my the birth of my child I haven't any problems with the acid reflux.  However, I began having gallbladder attacks.  I finally had my gallbladder removed a week ago but do not feel any better.  The acid reflux is back along with nausea and loss of appetite.  I went to the doctor again today and they put me back on Protonix and Carafate for a possible ulser.  The pain in my back between my shoulder blades and the pain in my chest is unreal.  Has anyone else ever experienced something like this

I have had similiar problems since my gallbladder removal 3 months ago.  Has gotten worse with back pain, belching, hic cups & nausea.  Was in ER two weeks ago thinking I was having heart attack.  Heart is fine. Taking prevacid & pepcid.  Finding no relief.  Anyone have any suggestions.

I got my gallbladdr removed because it was only emptying at 11%. I would get severe back pain & nausea after eating fatty foods. Its been a almost a year now that i've had my gall bladder out & i did not realize i was getting acid reflux until my throat was feeling sore. My ent said it looks like acid. I had a gastro doctor put a scope to look for a ulcer in my stomach & first intestines but there was any ulcers. He put me prislosec but it doesn't seem to be helping much i still am get some regurgtation after eating. I've been trying to figure out why all of a sudden i would get this acid reflux when i never had it except when i was pregnant & only a little heartburn  but this does not feel like the same as when i was pregnant. I've discovered alot articles about acid reflux afte gallbladder removal. I also seen articles about this may not even bee acid it maybe bile reflux. Plaese if you find any information on how help this please contact me because i am miserable. I have a 1 yr old baby & 5 yr old i'm trying to take care of while dealing with this. My email is myrainybaby@aol.com  my name is April thank you.
