Just have been dx'ed with Acid Reflux with tons of GERD
ANd would lov e to know how to deal w/this new medical issue

There are two aspects to acid reflux: acid and reflux.
The two together mean the acid will splash up and attack your esophagus, which may lead to Barrett's and in a few cases, cancer.
The acid can be dealt with by medication eg. Omeprazole.
Reflux, even once the acid is removed, can cause cough etc.
Reflux has to be dealt with either by lifestyle: lose weight, wear loose clothing, eat small meals, don't eat for three hours before bed, raise bed head, or, by a fundoplication operation.
