12 year old with acid reflux

okay im 12 years old and i was recently diagnosed with acid reflux disease. i am a competitive cheerleader at my school so i cant deal with heartbearn. i went to the doctor, mostly becuase i had to schedual an appointment for surgery (BAD NOSEBLEEDS). he checked my throat and said i had reflux, so i was really sad, but happy to know what was cuasing my heartbearn and swolen throat, and he brought me a sheet of paper. i was pleased to find a perscription for my disease. i am now on a medication called nexium i cheer just fine now and i dont have any problems with my acid reflux disease.

I don't know if you are on a proton pump inhibitor, but if you are I would recommend you get a second opinion. My personal physician recommends against long term use of these medications.

 

Also, I would suggest reading Dr. Andrew Weil's advice on GERD at www.drweil.com. You might want to print it and take a copy to your physician for discussion.
