Hi Jan
Maybe you remember me, I posted several times with questions regarding acid reflux for my one year old, who also wasn't swalling solids. We went to the regular ped first who perscribed alimentum and zantac and when that didn't work we went to a pedGE specialist who perscribed prevacid, 30mg a day, and because he was still throwing up with the alimentum, we switched (back) to soy formula, then... after a few weeks on that he was throwing up again, even with the prevacid and the GE said he is probably allergic to soy, so we switched him to elecare (an amino acid based formula) which was a huge expense (50$ for a small can) That was even worse- he threw up every night for two weeks and had liquid stool until, in desperation, I took him to a nutritionist who does kinesiology....long story short- he doesn't have any food allergies or reflux that I can tell, but according to the nutritionist he has a yeast infection of some sort and was reacting to all of the processed formulas- whether it makes sense or not- the man suggested a home made goats milk formula with cod liver oil, a liquid multi vitamin and probiotics along with an anit fungal supplement and now my son is doing great. He seems totaly fine, is now eating solids, has not thrown up at all since the switch and is completely off medications. I share this story because I have had such bad luck (with both kids) with traditional medicine and I want to encourage people to look at all their options before resorting to long term medications or procedures. Although I recognise that there are times when meds are necessary, I feel so sad for kids (or anyone) that have problems that are misdiagnosed or undiagnosed because they are not wholistically treated by their doctors. At one point I even had one of the specialsits I saw suggest that he have the tip of his tounge cliped (not the under part but the tip as he has a very, very slightly forked tounge) Thank God I didn't listen to that advice. Anyway- thanks for your support during this ordeal. Best,
Sam

Hello Sam,
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I am so glad that you found the solution to your son's digestive problems. Good for you asking questions and looking at all options for treatment. I have heard of some children having yeast overgrowth too. I wonder if you could describe the testing and how you found a practioner. Maybe others will want to explore this option.
Best wishes,
Jan
