Stress can possibly aggravate acid reflux.
Our expert, Tracy Davenport, recently wrote about that here:
Psychological Distress Increases Acid Reflux Severity
If there are any other symptoms or complications bothering you, you should see your doctor right away.
Please let us know what the doctor tells you, and feel free to ask any more questions here!

Monday, February 04, 2008 at 02:27 PMHi Terry,
Sorry to hear you are having problems with Acid Reflux! While it is a bit of a burden, it's not impossible. Here are some resources I found on Health Central that will help you.
First, you should not use any information on the web as a replacement for a doctors advice. It's always good to use this information to help you with the questions you need to ask your doctor.
First off, the best place to start is the beginning. When I first came here I went to the overview to find out what Acid Reflux is and what it does to your body. You can read that here. Then you can check your symptoms in the symptoms database located here. Sometimes we have symptoms that are acid reflux related and we don't know. Sometimes we have symptoms we think are acid related and it turns out they are not.
Then, if you have already seen your doctor and are taking medication for the acid reflux, you can look here to learn more about the medications you are taking and the others that are available. You can read about their side effects and drug interactions, things to avoid. You said you are taking the purple pill, and if I recall correctly that is Prilosec. You can see the information about Prilosec here.
Finally, there is an area that discusses treatment. What you can do, what is available. Does your acid reflux require surgery? You can read about all of that here. Then you can use this information to discuss your issues with your Doctor and manage your care.
I hope this information helps. Please stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!

Terry,
Hi Terry, I'm Joy, the manager for this Web site. Thank you for the SharePost.
I am sorry you are having such a tought time with your acid reflux disease.
If your medication is not working, you should see your doctor right away to talk about the problem and any other treatment options you may available.
For more information about acid reflux drugs, I suggest you read the links below. They have some information for people who aren't getting relief right away from their medicine:
I am taking Nexium twice daily, but I continue to have symptoms... What should I do?
Is it safe to continue with another 14 days of Prilosec?
I hope this information helps you. Please write back and let the community know how you are doing!
