The Prop Up Pillow

By jdj Monday, December 03, 2007
I would appreciate it any advice/recommendation regarding the sleeping aid, The Prop Up Pillow, http://www.propuppillow.com/index.html
My wife was diagnosed with Acid reflux 3 years ago and since then underwent tests, treatment and thankfully is now doing well. As a preventive measure she was interested in the above mentioned product. Has anyone out there purchased the Prop Up Pillow and if so, would you recommend it? Perhaps other similar products exist that I'm not aware of, please advise.

Please excuse me if this topic has previously been discussed in this forum as I am new to HealthCentral.com.

Thank you for your SharePost.

I haven't used that specific pillow, but it's often recommended that people lie upright at night to avoid acid reflux.

Hi jdj,

Jan Gambino, one of our resident experts here found some information about a particular prop up pillow called the Medslant Wedge/Pillow. Developed by Adele Camens, it is made for adults as well as children. You can read Jan's comments here.

Good luck and stay in touch, let us know how you and your wife are doing!!

Hello!

Elevating the bed is often recommended by a doctor as part of a GERD treatment plan. I have no personal experience with any of the products but there are several to consider:

Wedges:

Propuppillow

Medslant

AR Pillow

TuckerDesigns

Bed Lifts:

Bedzup

Bed lifts (various brands) in most department stores, bedding stores

Good luck! Jan

I don't know about this item but I purchased a 10 inch foam wedge.  I purchased it at a medical supply store.  There is also a 12 inch wedge.  I put that on my side of the bed with my pillow on top.  It is actually quite comfortable.  It took some getting used to but the benefit was worth it.
