Hi Folks,
I am considering reflux surgery but I am scared stiff. One of the most common problems I have researched are swallowing problems. Some go away a few months after surgery but some are PERMANENT. I have seen some posts here where some folks are having swallowing problems. One lady on this site was checking with others to see if anyone else had a problem and someone reponded that it was in her head. Please realize that if a person says they have a swallowing problem after surgery it is NOT in their head. It is real and is one of the more common complications after surgery. Even my specialist has warned me about it.
What my dilema is.... my symptoms from reflux are very bad affecting every area of my life and surgery sounds tempting. But to have swallowing problems every time I take a small action like swallowing saliva would be horrible. I need to hear from folks that have had surgery any advice, any cautions or encouragements? Marie
