Hi, I was wondering if you had any shortness of breath, dizziness, and a rapid heartbeat at times? I've been on omeprazole for awhile, after having and endoscopy. I felt better so I stopped taking it, now the reflux is back and i'm back on the meds. My physician suggested to see a cardiologist but the rapid heartbeat and all of those symptoms only seem to happen when I eat certain foods to agitate the reflux. Also, i've been waking up at night short of breath and once I elevated myself, I felt much better. Please help!

It's interesting that you've noticed that certain foods cause you problems with your heartbeat and your breathing. It is possible that the reflux can cause a stress reaction that would then cause these symptoms. BUT, the problem is that reflux symptoms can be very similar to heart problems. It's always best to get anything cardiac ruled out. It can in fact be very dangerous to treat reflux without making sure your heart is okay.
