GERD and Treatment

By Philioness Saturday, January 26, 2008

Hi. I got what doctor said GERD, but it wasn't so. It was mainly because of my bad posture (slouched) that I got the symptoms. Best way to get rid of GERD is improve your posture.

Hi Philioness!

What good news that you didn't have GERD!! While standing or sitting up straight is good advice for anyone, particularly if you have pain or discomfort after eating, it's not the only thing someone who truly has GERD can do to help improve their condition. Poor posture can make it difficult for the digestive system to do it's job.

There is some information for those who are diagnosed with GERD located here about lifestyle changes that can make a difference. Not only in posture, but in general, how long to wait after meals to lie down, advice about not wearing tight clothing which can inhibit the digestive tract and other ideas to help.

Again, congrats on not having GERD. Take care and stay in touch, let us know how you are doing!

WEak Latissimus dorsi and strong trapezius can give rise to GERD symptoms because the trapezius pulls thoracis spine up and lumbar spine pushes agaisnt the stomach increasing pressure in the stomach and forcing the contents/ air out through oesophagael valve. So i recommend strengthening core muscles: rectus abdominis, Latissimus dorsi, erector spinae. Do not ignore any muscles
