Hello Jan,

I'm glad that you addressed this issue and gave some information on it, along with some guidelines for our condition.  I had been wondering about this matter ever since I had read of the effect PPIs have on bacteria.  I was concerned that harmful bacteria would not have the hindrance that the stomach acid provides, thus potentially the bacteria would have a detrimental effect on the patient's health.  So thank you for discussing this and I look forward to any comments from other readers.  Thanks again, Jan.

Sincerely, RichardR
