Sleep Solution for Infants and Toddlers: ComfyLiftBed

By Jan Gambino, Health Guide Tuesday, September 15, 2009

How does the pillow insert work for a very small infant?

The infant/newborn addition is very much like the larger toddler mattress shape. The infant insert is an addition placed on top of the main ComfyLiftBedTM (toddler size). It has side barriers to snuggly hold the small infant in place on his/her back or side, while keeping the infant at a 30 degree recommended angle. It is constructed with super-soft foam for comfort and a waterproof mat & custom cotton/poly wrap are added.

The biggest question I get from parents is how to position a toddler for sleeping. Many parents use a wedge for an infant. Once the baby outgrows the wedge/harness, the baby/toddler is placed flat in the crib and cannot sleep a bit. They are too old for a wedge but too young for a pillow. How can the ComfyLiftBed be used with a toddler?

To install the toddler size mattress you will need to remove the existing mattress in order to set-in the ComfyLiftBedTM/mattress in the lowest position in the crib. If the toddler is able to raise himself/herself then the Crib TentTM, (use original model only) is recommended due to the possibility of the child to step on the higher side barriers to try to exit the crib. In the design, one 3" head wedge is added to reach the 30-degree angle needed, but it is easily removed to adjust downward if preferred when the toddler grows in length. Complimentarily, the two of the three-foot wedges are also removable to allow the child to grow, allowing children up to age five or six to use the mattress.

We strongly believe that our special needs mattress, the ComfyLiftBedTM, can elevate a child with GER/GERD from infancy to adolescence using the most comfort and flexible method, permitting a child to grow during their most critical formative years.

Is the ComfyLiftBed covered by insurance?

Some health insurance companies (Tri-Care, Blue Cross Blue Shield, etc.) have covered the ComfyLiftBedTM mattress, but coverage varies with each individual policy. We have had numerous agencies cover the bed on a state and county level, such as Medicaid coverage or the ECI program (Early Childhood Intervention).
