About Me

Jan Gambino,"The Reflux Mom" (www.refluxmom.com) is the author of Reflux 101: A Parent's Guide to Gastroesophageal Reflux and a regular blogger on HealthCentral since 2006. Her two "reflux babies" are now 14 and 17 years old.

She received intense, on the job training in parenting a child with acid reflux from caring for her two youngest children. This led to her involvement in the Pediatric Adolescent Gastroesophageal Reflux Association (PAGER)as a volunteer and then as associate director. While she worked with the organization, she counseled hundreds of parents and authored many PAGER Association parent education materials. Jan has published articles in Exceptional Parent Magazine and Allergy and Asthma Today.

Jan holds a B.S. degree in Special Education and Elementary Education from Boston University and a Masters degree in Early Childhood/ Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has over 13 years experience working with medically fragile and handicapped infants and preschoolers.

 Jan lives in suburban Maryland with her 3 girls and two cats.
