Upper Endoscopy

At a Glance

The upper endoscopy is a test used to diagnose GERD and determine its severity and progress.  The upper endoscopy is more accurate than a barium swallow radiograph, but more invasive and expensive. The test itself uses a camera that allows the physician to view the surface of the esophagus and detect abnormalities.
