H2 Histamine Blocker Medications

At a Glance

H2 Histamine Blockers hinder acid production by blocking or antagonizing the actions of histamine, a chemical found in the body that encourages acid secretion in the stomach.  Generally, they take about 30 to 90 minutes to take effect, but the benefits will last many hours afterward.  They are usually taken at bedtime and are available over the counter.
