Topics:Acid Refluxmouth pain

I am 24 year old girl,I smoke occasionally.I've been having pain and burning sensation in my mouth and tongue for a 9 months now.

I don't know what to to anymore...I'm desperate.

I went to doctor(a specialist) last year because of the sore in my mouth and he did a oral exam and said that everything is ok..He told that I have a acid reflux.I told him that I'm scared of a oral cancer.Well the sore is still there, without pain and it's still the same size.

But what to do with the pain...When I eat and drink,it nums it for a while...

I'm so scared that something is wrong...

Please help me!!

Hi Tina,

If you are concerned, then you need to follow the advice of your doctor. If he has diagnosed you with acid reflux, then he should have a plan of action for managing your care. Online sites like Health Central are great for getting the information you need to ask all the right questions of your doctor. Online advice should never take the place of your doctor's solid medical advice.

I am not sure if your doctor prescribed anything for your acid reflux, but some medications can cause sore tongue and mouth. Like Prilosec for instance. You can read about the precautions and interactions of Prilosec here and other medications here in the drugs database.

Good luck! I hope you find something here that helps. Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!
