Q: I have gade D esophagitis, GERD and started medication about a month ago. Today I awoke vomitting, there was bright red blood, chould I call Dr?

I used to vomit several times per week, I have not vomitted since beginning the medication however I have never had any blood in the vomit. It was very painful, very aciddy or vile. I hate to call Dr. for nothing, in fact for years that told me the vomitting was anxiety and by the time they did the scope it was grade D and it was basically an emergency because I had a lump in my throat.

I hope by now you have called the doctor. In general, bright red blood is a sign of bleeding above the stomach level because digested blood looks like wet coffee grinds. But, with your history any new symptom should be investigated or at least discussed with your doctor.
