Monday, June 08, 2009 Concerned Mum asks

Q: my son has acid refluc and its affecting his teeth! He is taking Zantac 150.

He also is spitting up a lot of acid! Is there a natural cure for this or should i take him to the Dr and get him a prescription. What is the safest prescription? Is Nexium good? What would you recommend? Thanks

I would definitely recommend a trip to the doctor. If he's still having symptoms on medicine then a thorough exam is warranted. You may also want to consider a GI specialist if he hasn't already been to one.

Hello! It is also important to see a pediatric dentist as soon as possible. There are ways to protect the teeth from acid such as sealants, special floride toothpaste and rinses. Children with reflux are at higher risk due to the acid. I have written several blogs on this topic if you want more detailed information.
