Hello!

For the upper GI test, your son will be awake and you should be able to accompany him for the entire test. He will need to drink some formula or breastmilk mixed with barium just before the x ray is taken. Be sure to bring his feeding supplies: bottles, formula or breastmilk.

My daughter vomited right after the test so an extra set of clothes is a good idea. She also had to fast before the test so get instructions from the radiology department.

After the test, his bowel movements may be chaulky. Give him a bit of water after the test so he doesn't get constipated.

Let us know about your experiences.

Best wishes,

Jan
