after taking somac for a few days my husband had large hive like lumps in several places on his body, we need to know if this is a reaction to the drug

Please refer to the side effects section of our Protonix (pantoprazole) drug guide for more information. It list common and severe side effects. Rash is listed under allergic reactions and I would urge you to consult with your doctor right away. There are many medication options for acid reflux. Your husband should be able to find an alternative that will not cause an adverse reaction.
