Q: can vicadon cause acid reflux

I have been taking Vicadon to control pain for degenerative arthritis of the spine which has caused my stomach to hurt like theres a knife in there turning...I took protonix 1st, that quit working, then tums,maalox,and lastly zantac which does not work...is this a cause for acid reflux?

Hi Connie,

 

The listed side effects of vicodin do not include acid reflux.

 

There are many causes of acid reflux. You may want to look them over and determine if you have any of the risk factors.

 

Since the medications you have been taking are not working you may want to consult with your doctor until you find a medication that does work for you.

 

In addition, medications are only one way to treat acid reflux. Lifestyle changes involving diet and exercise can also help prevent acid reflux.
