Q: Having problems swallowing

I have gerd and acid reflux.  Been taking omperzole for quite sometime and my insurance was changed. The new insurance will not pay for it so they gave aciphex. It is not working and this problem seems to be getting worse. It is annoying and kinda of scary.  Is this the reason I can't even swallow my saliva. I am going to schedule a colonoscopy as soon as I can get someone to take me and then stay with me. Just want to make sure something else isn't going on that should be looked at right away.

Hello Margy,

If you feel that this is urgent and you cannot even stay hydrated by drinking clear liquids, go to the emergency department for assistance. Difficulty swallowing and not being able to manage your saliva is indeed worrisome.

Moving forward, I think your primary care doctor will have some good ideas about the tests and treatments that you need.

Thank so much.  I found an omaprozale last night and took it and it helped.  I'm goingme to talk to my doctor and see if he can get me my prescription back since I' m changing insurances in June.  Thank you again so much.
