Q: Previcid with TPN patients: patients no longer tolerate drug; why?? pt. is disabled ped.

Previcid is administered to disabled pediatric patient who does 5 feedings daily since they are NPO.  ONly 1/2 tab is given, but symtoms exhibited, since pt cannot expressed themselves, is grimice, cry, whine, when pill is given.  Pt is in upright 45 degree sitting positon when it is given.  Why is this happening?  I thought the drug was supposed to help not hinder? Jules

Hello Jules, It is best to report these symptoms to the doctor and pharmacist. I am not sure why this is happening.
