Hi Bobby,   Thank you for your question. There are other medications similar to Nexium on the market, and you may want to talk to your doctor about trying one of those. The medications are all in the same class and work the same way, but each medication has a different effect on different people. Protonix just came out in generic form (pantoprazole), so you may want to try that one first to see if it works any better than the Nexium for you. There is also another class of medications, call H2 Blockers, which includes medications such as Tagamet, Zantac, Axid, and Pepcid. Some of the H2 Blockers have a lot of drug interactions, though, so be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting one of these medications.
