Q: what to eat for my acid reflux disease?

i keep hearing that apples are the cure but for acid reflux but i dont eat fruit i havent since i was 3 what do i do?  my meds are barely working and they've been double dosed i've cut out fast food, quit smoking and sleep with the top of my bed tilted but it hasn't helped. i'm only 18 years old and i DO NOT want to suffer with this for the rest of my life. is surgery a good option i'm extremely afraid of and surgery what so ever.   I suffer with a uncomfortable lump in my throat almost constantly and often get nausiated and it got so bad that i was hospitalized for 13 hours. before i was prescribed losec.

Hello Jenny,

My daughter is 17 years old and she have reflux too. You are not alone. In fact, it is pretty common in teens.

Healthy eating is a very important part of the treatment plan. What is a typical meal? What foods do you like? You can search this site for other posts about healthy eating when you have reflux and I will try to help too.
