You should always see a doctor when you have specifc questions about your health. Pain and discomfort in the upper abdomen can sometimes be symptoms of dyspepsia, a specific type of GERD. However, only your doctor can find out if you have that or some other potential ailment.   GERD patients often make adjustments to their diet to help fight the symptoms. You should first consult your doctor before making any dietary changes.
